Job Description
JOB SCOPE: This critical function works closely with manufacturing, quality and design operations. The main role of this function is to provide critical manufacturing assistance in the design of production operations, optimize product build and continuously improve the manufacturing operation. This function will work with all product market efforts including shelters, electronic systems, and electronic integration.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
  • Key player in the overall safety of SGAMF operations
  • Provide early stage product and process manufacturing guidance (DFM)
  • Work with the Quality, Engineering and Operations functions to ensure first time product quality
  • Lead teams in Corrective and Preventive Actions (CAPA)
  • Provide support in resolving supplier non-conformances, customer complaints, and field failures
  • Provide support in the development of Advanced Quality Planning (AQP) documents such as Control Plans, Process Flow Diagrams such as Value Stream Maps and Process/Product Failure Mode Effects Analyses (PFMEA)
  • Assist in the design and build of work saving devices and systems
  • Improve manufacturing efficiency
  • Analyze and plan work flow, space requirements, and equipment layout.
  • Provide manufacturing decision-making information by calculating production, labor, and material costs
  • Review production schedules/forecasts and estimates future production requirements.
  • Understand and execute total productive maintenance (TPM).  Keep equipment operational by coordinating maintenance and repair services; following manufacturer's instructions and established procedures; requesting special service.
  • Work with the Quality and Operations functions to develop and maintain Job Travelers and Work Instructions.
  • Liaison between Engineering and Operations
  • Understand and use company ERP system (E2) to input and maintain product BOM’s and incoming inventory tracking
  • Work with Quality and Operations functions in qualifying new suppliers
  • Work with Purchasing function to acquire quotations and product communication with suppliers.
  • Maintain a supply of appropriate spare tooling that insures continuance of Operations.
  • Performs Toolbox inspections for tool accountability and condition assessment. Makes determination to replace worn or broken tools

QUALIFICATIONS:            
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a related manufacturing engineering function
  • BS degree in manufacturing engineering or related education
  • Able to read and understand mechanical drawings
  • Working knowledge of CAD
  • Working knowledge of VISIO software.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
  • Working knowledge of proper use of micrometers and calipers
  • Working knowledge of Lean manufacturing methods
  • Working knowledge of various Root Cause Analysis methodologies (5-Why, 8D, etc)
  • Understands ISO/AS Quality Management Systems
  • Strong leadership, communication and people skills
