Purpose TRC Inc. is seeking an engineer to be responsible for planning, conducting, and analyzing vehicle level tests. This engineer will work closely with other engineers, managers, and researchers to create and improve test plans and report results. This engineer will also lead a team to execute field tests and troubleshoot issues.
Essential Functions
Develop work descriptions based upon customers’ needs and knowledge of the processes involved
Ensure test objectives are well defined and achieved
Decompose system requirements and subsequently define vehicle test plans/procedures and conduct field tests
Build automation scripts to for recurring tests
Analyze test and scenario data once tests are completed
Create and maintain dashboards to display results and status. Generate and present concise test reports highlighting areas of strength and weakness.
Support the program planning, logistics, and scheduling processes as required to enable effective and efficient system test and integration
Draw reasonable conclusions from a set of information and discriminate between useful and less useful details to propose solutions and make decisions
Troubleshoot hardware, software, car, test execution issues and escalate accordingly
Lead a test team of vehicle operators and test assistants to safely execute field tests
Communicate test progress and status
Identify and implement improvements to existing workflows and test procedures

Other Duties and Responsibilities
Learn customer test objectives and communicate objectives to supporting BU’s
Develop and coordinate project budgets and proposals based upon customer objectives and supporting BU inputs
Develop test plans and procedures based upon customers’ needs and processes involved
Travel to off-site customers, trade shows, and technical session sites
Communicate test plans, proposals, non-conformances, and project status to internal and external customers
Manage project budgets
Test methodologies and devices
Assist engineering technicians and project managers in accomplishing project tasks
Make technical decisions with assistance
Present proposals and report test results before customer representatives
Support TRC Inc.’s Quality and EH&S (Environmental, Health, and Safety) efforts
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in engineering or related technical field is required
2 years of professional experience preferred
2+ years of testing and system validation experience preferred
Basic understanding of data acquisition systems and instrumentation
Familiarity with vehicle systems and sub-systems
Excellent organizational and communication skills
General knowledge of computers including work processing and data analysis software
Proficient in technical report writing
Demonstrated project management skills
Demonstrated ability working with cross-functional teams
Working conditions
Standard office, climate-controlled environment
May be exposed to temperatures below 0 degree and above 95 degrees
May be exposed to inclement weather
May be exposed to hazardous chemicals, such as gas, oil, and paint
Physical requirements
Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time
Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
Ability to communicate with customers and co-workers
