CEI Practice Leader

S&ME is currently seeking a highly talented and experienced individual in Construction Engineering and Inspections (CEI) to lead our regional Construction Engineering and Inspection practice across Indiana, Ohio, and Kentucky as our CEI Practice Leader. This individual can be based in our Cincinnati, Columbus, Lexington, Indianapolis, New Albany or Evansville offices.


What You Will Do:

As the CEI Practice Leader, your role entails leading the growth of a team comprising project managers and CEI inspectors by fostering partnerships with state departments of transportation and other consulting firms, managing existing contracts, and overseeing transportation projects. A successful Practice Leader will embody S&ME's culture, promoting teamwork and inclusivity, while also challenging and nurturing staff to excel. Key responsibilities include devising and executing growth strategies, understanding market dynamics, ensuring quality service delivery, identifying business opportunities, championing strategic projects, and collaborating with regional and service line leadership. Your performance will be measured by various KPIs, including revenue growth, employee retention, audit scores, and client satisfaction.

  • Develop and implement growth strategies with a programmatic approach.
  • Possess a strong understanding of the market and adapt strategies accordingly.
  • Oversee the delivery of quality services and identify business opportunities.
  • Serve as a champion for strategic projects and collaborate with leadership.
  • Be accountable for achieving service line KPIs such as revenue growth and client satisfaction (Net Promoter Score).

Who You Are:

  • You have a Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field
  • You have a minimum of 15+ years of project and program management-related experience with KYTC, INDOT, ODOT, or another state DOT
  • You have marketing and business development skills in addition to contacts/relationships within the practice
  • You have a proven track record of success winning and delivering opportunities for multiple clients within the market segment
  • You have a Professional Engineer (PE) registration in a relevant state, a plus
  • You have Project Management Professional (PMP) and/or Design-Build Professional certification (DBIA) certifications, a plus
