Job Description Summary

Monitors manufacturing environment and processes; implements procedures and practices that ensure safe work conditions.Creates, communicates, and enforces standards and practices for handling dangerous materials.Monitors manufacturing practices and processes for environmental considerations; ensures adherence to company policies, industry practices, and governmental regulations.Manages the process of preparing for, mitigating, responding to, and recovering from, an emergency.

Job Description

*Implements and monitors EHS programs.
*Assures appropriate federal, state, and locally mandated requirements are met.
*Assures mechanisms for assessing and addressing risks or hazards to plant and transport personnel and environment are in place and effective.
*Monitors existing infrastructure and processes for compliance and potential risks or hazards.
*Conducts periodic EHS inspections as part of a layered audit process.
*Coordinates activities and containment actions in the event of accidents. Advises and trains on regulations and safe practices.
*Coordinates permits from federal and state agencies. Reviews reports and documentation; participates in environmental audits.
*Assesses technologies for EHS applications.
*Assures safety orientation training and documentation are in place.
*Oversees investigations of causes of accidents, injuries, or illnesses; assures reports of findings and solutions for minimizing or preventing recurrence are completed in a timely manner.
*Provides support to senior management in addressing EHS-related issues.
*Manages the process of preparing for, mitigating, responding to, and recovering from, an emergency.
*Maintains communications with local emergency-service providers (fire, police, paramedics, etc.). Ensures that outside emergency services are called in when necessary.
*Analyzes safety data trends and recommends corrective strategies to implement.
*All other duties as assigned.

Required Skills and Education

Bachelor's Degree in EHS or related field preferred.
3-5 years' experience in the manufacturing industry
