Job Description
The Project Engineering Assistant is responsible for supporting engineering projects by adapting and applying engineering techniques, data processing, preparing reports and calculations.

Essential Functions*
  • Perform data processing using computer software and hardware resources
  • Transfer data from file, storage or communication link, film or chart digitization to required format
  • Maintain, sort, and retrieve test data and test plans
  • Maintain durability program quality control metrics for internal reporting
  • Review, compile, and deliver relevant test documents to customers after evaluating for consistency and accuracy
  • Determine proposal concepts by identifying and clarifying opportunities and needs; studying requests for proposal (RFPs); attending strategy meetings as needed
  • Meet proposal deadlines for information gathering, writing, review, and approval; entering and monitoring tracking data; coordinating requirement with contributors; contributing proposal status information to review meetings
  • Develop proposals by assembling information including project nature, objectives/outcomes/deliverables, implementation, methods, timetable, staffing, budget, standards, of performance, and evaluation; writing, revising, and editing drafts including executive summaries, conclusions, and organization credentials

Other Duties and Responsibilities (Non-Essential Functions)
  • Perform data tabulations, plotting, and graphics
  • Assist in presentation and report preparation
  • Plot data and perform simple calculations with guidance
  • Perform complex assignments independently
  • Maintain quality results by using templates; following proposal-writing standards including readability, consistency, and tone; maintaining proposal support databases
  • Work directly with Project Managers to understand customer needs and develop the best solutions for their requirement
  • Make suggestions for possible solutions, quickly develop budgetary cost and prepare the project proposal for the customer
  • Support TRC Inc.’s Quality and EH&S (Environmental, Health, and Safety) efforts

  • Bachelor’s degree (BS or BA), Associates degree in engineering or computer technology or five years’ related experience
  • Excellent technical writing skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent time management skills
  • Excellent problem solving and organizational skills
  • Strong computer skills with working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint)
  • Proficiency in the use of computers and associated software programs for data reduction and manipulation
  • Basic knowledge in physical sciences, mathematics, and data processing
  • Basic photographic and video editing skills are preferred

Working conditions
  • Standard office, climate controlled environment
  • May be exposed to temperatures below 0 degrees and above 95 degrees
  • May be exposed to inclement weather

Physical requirements
  • Must be able to remain in a stationary position for an extended period of time
  • Capable to positioning one’s self into bending, stretching, climbing, or awkward positions
  • Ability to operate a computer and other office equipment
  • Ability to communicate with customers and co-workers
