We are seeking a highly motivated individual for a research assistant position to assist and support scientific investigations in the areas of neuroscience and pathogenesis of auto-immune diseases (Alzheimers disease, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome) in the Dept. of Cancer Biology amp; Genetics/Institute of Behavioral Medicine Research. The selected individual will conduct assigned experiments including ELISA assays, Western blot, qPCR, gel electrophoresis, protein purification and immunofluorescence staining; perform, record, consolidate and assist with analysis of research results; summarize data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts; assist principal investigator with the preparation of publications and posters; conduct library research on requested topics through researching current literature; oversee and maintain accurate records of laboratory activities; assist with training of junior research staff, undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation; maintenance of laboratory equipment; monitor research supplies, update specimens/reagents inventory and initiate procurement requests as needed.
Minimum Education, Skills and Experience Required
A Bachelors degree in a biological/health science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of biological/health science research is required. A minimum of 1 year experience in a biological/health research capacity is required.
