DLZ currently has an opening for a Utility Coordinator for Transportation Engineer Projects in our Indianapolis, IN office.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES: Transportation Engineer

  • Perform utility coordination services for Transportation & Public works projects, both INDOT and local agencies.
  • Schedule and Conduct utility coordination meetings.
  • Be the lead liaison between DLZ and all utilities involved in the project.
  • Perform project site visits with the design team and utilities as required to identify utility conflicts and relocation routes.
  • Review design plans and identify utility conflicts.
  • Review utility relocation plans provided by the utilities.
  • Coordinate with the design team and utilities to resolve utility concerns/relocations
  • Actively participate and contribute in client meetings involving utility coordination
  • Participate/Prepare utility relocation timeline for inclusion in the overall project construction schedule.
  • Prepare utility coordination progress reports and utility relocation schedules.
  • Perform all work in a safe and responsible manner, in accordance with the Health and Safety Plan.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or other related field or,
  • four or more years of experience in highway or utility industries with at least one year in utility coordination and/or relocation efforts
  • INDOT utility coordination certification preferred.
  • AutoCAD and/or MicroStation experience required to review utility conflicts and relocation design provided by the utilities.
  • Experience in development and/or review of utility relocation designs
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to visit and safely traverse construction and project sites and complying with all applicable safety codes and requirements.
