Research Intern - RI Emer Med Cohen

The Emergency Medicine (EM) Research Team at Nationwide Children's Hospital (NCH) in Columbus, Ohio, is seeking a part time student to join the EM Research Team. The Research Intern will work on research projects that focus on emergency medicine and emergency medical services. The person in this position will be responsible for assisting on several research projects in collaboration with internal NCH stakeholders, the Pediatric Emergency Care Applied Research Network, a variety industry studies and others under the supervision of EM Research Team Manager.

Responsibilities

PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    Conducts clinical study activities as outlined in the study protocol.
  • Performs study procedures according to recognized skill level and certifications and within the local and federal regulations and guidelines; adheres to good clinical practices.
  • Recruits and enrolls study participants; confers with participants to explain purpose of study and obtain informed consent; explains diagnostic procedures and treatment plans to address participant/family concerns (both in person and via telephone)
  • Maintains subject records and completes required chart abstractions.
  • Records patient information in data capture software.
  • Performs other duties, including some clerical tasks, incidental to the work described herein
Qualifications

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES REQUIRED

  • High School graduate with two years accredited college coursework majoring in science preferred.
  • Must have a desire to pursue a career in Research, Biology, Psychology, Sociology, Pharmacy, Nursing, Medicine, or related field * Applicant must have excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to manage details, work independently, and meet deadline
  • Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Will require occasional evening and weekend hours
  • Hours: Part-time, hours flexible

MINIMUM PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Note frequency as Constantly (67-100%), Frequently (34-66%) and Occasionally (0-33%) for each requirement.
  • Also note any lifting requirements with pound limit.
