We are looking for a Physicals Technician (Food Science) - in 2057 Builders Place, Columbus, OH 43204 USA. Your mission will be to:

*Perform a variety of testing procedures on food products related to Quality Assurance including
identifying the specified physical characteristics of a sample based on client requests and specifications.
Continually review the client-specific evaluation procedures as testing is performed. Suggest
modifications and improvements to procedures as needed. Ensure that all methodology is implemented
and tested so that all analysis activities are in compliance with quality, safety, and other applicable
standards and procedures.
* Communicate with Supervisor or Technical Support personnel any concerns with testing procedures in order to provide information to clients as necessary. Liaison with local and regional customer care as required, including TAT updates.
* Provide results and additional information according to the time frame established by Department Leadership and Customer Requirements and inform Leadership of any late or out of spec results as soon as possible. Perform testing, record data in LIMS, review accuracy of data in order to produce reports to clients.
* Read, calculate and record analysis data to produce LIMS-generated reports for customers. Correct any discrepancies that may occur. Occasional calculations performed outside of LIMS need to be documented and maintained per Good Laboratory Practices.
* Receive and log in samples prior to analysis. Review sample and any attached to documentation to assign an identification number and enter information into Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS). Prepare documentation as necessary.
* Contact customers, customer care and off-site leadership when necessary to obtain and clarify missing or unclear information to ensure that identification of client code, test code, and sample contents are accurate.
* Store samples in appropriate manner until analysis is completed and appropriately dispose of extra samples. Ensure sample integrity is maintained upon arrival at the laboratory.
* Prepare samples to be shipped to other labs when necessary, follow appropriate procedures and maintain all related documentation.
* May assist Department Personnel with the development of customized client reports or data entry into a customer database. Activities include: collection of data, analysis of data and transfer of data.
* Support corporate quality and continuous improvement process. Support QA retail testing in terms of specification review/development and testing protocols.
* This position has the responsibilities and authority to identify departures from the quality system or test procedures and document such observations in accordance with the prescribed complaint system.
* Perform other related duties as needed. Involvement in non-food testing and method development as needed.

YOUR PROFILE

Associates Degree and 1+ year relevant work experience is preferred. This position requires a basic knowledge of computer operation skills to manipulate keyboard while entering sample information into the LIMS. A basic knowledge of food science, chemistry or microbiology is helpful to effectively assign and execute proper test codes and procedures. A broad knowledge of personal computer software and data entry skills is necessary to input data into the LIMS and generate special reports. A basic knowledge of personal computers is required to accurately enter testing data and results.


Required skills:
Analytical skills are necessary for completion of tasks within the department. A basic knowledge of laboratory safety procedures and policies is necessary to ensure a safe working environment. Incumbent will gain a working knowledge of the internal TQM programs. Planning skills are necessary to maintain supplies of analysis materials and ensure analysis is completed within specified time. Time management skills are essential to maximize the progress of the analysis process and
perform multiple tasks at the same time. Incumbent will receive feedback about any mistakes and will be provided with guidance from the department leadership to avoid repeat errors.The decisions of the incumbent impact the customer and the progress of the testing procedure.Must be able to lift 50 lbs and stand at a lab workstation during work shift.


The incumbent receives regular supervision from the Operations Supervisor. The incumbent works toward specific performance goals and targets that are established by the supervisor. The method of attaining the goals is determined by the incumbent in accordance with SOPs. Result and worksheet data are reviewed daily by the supervisor. Repeating analysis or inaccurate reports can strain client relations and increase cost of analysis.
