Job Description

Post Doctoral Researcher to pursue specialized research training, education and experience under the guidance of a scientific mentor in the Division of Pulmonary, Critical care and Sleep Medicine within the Department of Internal Medicine; plans, designs and executes experiments of considerable scope and complexity in the assigned research lab focusing on Pulmonary biology, specifically age-related changes in the lung that increase the susceptibility to developing chronic lung disease; performs advanced molecular and cellular techniques including but not limited to western blots, ELISA, immunohistochemistry, PCR, RT-PCR, and cell culture; collects and analyzes data for research sponsored by appropriate agencies and Institutions; identifies and selects problems to be studied; develops and troubleshoots new experimental techniques and protocols; attends research seminars; contributes to manuscript preparation and supports technical writing; participates in preparation of grant applications for extramural funding; performs additional duties as assigned.

Minimum Education/Experience Requirements:

Doctoral degree in Biological Sciences required; experience in protein isolation and characterization from whole lung cell lysates preferred;experience in analyzing confocal microscopy to localize senescence-related proteins preferred; Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
