Job Description

Job Summary: The Physician provides licensed medical care including diagnosis, treatment (inclusive of surgery or pre/post-surgical care where appropriate), case management and clinical research.The Physician manages complex and sometimes unpredictable situations. The Physician must be competent in technical, clinical and surgical skills (where appropriate), cognitive and interpersonal skills required to serve those patients receiving the above mentioned services.The Physician is expected to practice within the established Medical Center and physicians standards of practice (policies, procedures, protocols), and adhere to key results areas of the Medical Center.

Required Qualifications: Medical Doctor (MD) or Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine (DO), board certified or board eligible in specialization required. State of Ohio and DEA licensure required.

Desired Qualifications:

The Department of Neurological Surgery at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center and James Comprehensive Cancer Center located in Columbus, Ohio seeks a full-time faculty member to join the Division of Neurosurgical Oncology. The successful candidate will be a MD or DO, will possess, or be eligible for, an Ohio Medical license or Medical Faculty Certificate and be Board Certified/ Board Eligible in Neurosurgery.

The candidate should have a specialty interest in Neurosurgical Oncology. As a member of the Department of Neurosurgery, the individual will have the opportunity to enjoy a multidisciplinary collaboration with colleagues utilizing departmental case reviews and subspecialty tumor board conferences. The successful candidate is also expected to participate in shared general neurosurgery responsibilities, teaching, and research.

General Duties and Responsibilities:

Major responsibilities include teaching, patient care, and research. The candidate will be responsible to provide and maintain a high level of quality and compassionate care to both in-patients and outpatients suffering from a variety of neoplastic disorders of the brain, spinal cord and peripheral nerves. The candidate will work to enhance and further develop the Neurosurgical Oncology division in the department of Neurological Surgery including building interdepartmental collaborations and treatment protocols as well as clinical and translational research and teaching of medical students, residents and fellows.
