Job Description

Dr. Gaofeng Xiongs laboratory in the Department of Veterinary Biosciences at The Ohio State University is seeking a motivated candidate for a postdoctoral position.

Dr. Xiongs research primarily focuses on understanding important molecular mechanisms and biology underlying breast cancer progression, metastasis, therapy resistance and recurrence, as well as identifying novel potential biomarkers and therapeutic targets for breast cancer treatment (Proc Natl Acad Sci U S A 2020 amp; 2023, Nature Communications 2018, J Biol Chem 2022, Cancer Research 2015 amp; 2012, ACS Nano 2015, Integrative Biology 2015, Molecular and Cellular Biology 2014). A Post Doctoral Scholar will be involved in the project investigating the role of P4HA1 in endocrine resistance of breast cancer, which is recently awarded by external funding from NIH-NIA. Resistance to endocrine therapy and recurrence are the leading causes of mortality in breast cancer patients. P4HA1, the alpha subunit of Prolyl hydroxylation (P4H), is an enzyme hydroxylates proline into 4-hydroxyproline of collagens and other proteins with the -X-Pro-Gly- sequences as collagens in the endoplasmic reticulum. This project will focus on the uncanonical role of P4HA1 as a key player coordinates the crosstalk between endocrine resistance and cellular stresses (oxidative stress, endoplasmic reticulum stress), and explore P4HA1 as a novel therapeutic target for endocrine resistant luminal breast cancer. In vitro 2D/3D tissue culture model, in vivo breast cancer cell line and patient-derived xenograft models, as well as conditional knock out mouse model will be used in this project.

How to Apply:

Applications should include a CV, representative publications, contact information of references, and a cover letter detailing how your research experiences match this position. Review of applicants will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled.

Minimum Education Required

Ph.D. in Biology, molecular, or other cell biology-related fields

Essential Qualifications

The candidate will be expected to conduct standard molecular and cellular experiments like PCR, western blots, IHC, IF, FACS, tissue culture, etc.

Desired Qualifications

Xenograft model and transgenic mouse model experiences are desired but not required. Strong writing, analytical, and communication skills are expected.
