Description

Position Summary:

The Traveling Project Engineer will travel extensively for the company and its strategic clients. Travel requirements will be dictated by the size and length of the project. While traveling, this position will be provided with regular return trips home and per diem living expense reimbursement. Travel costs are also paid for by the company. This position must be able to work independently and be able to coordinate all aspects of the project with support from the Project Manager. Assist with on-site administrative and technical management on construction project site and supervises the day-to-day operations of work performed including work performed by sub-contracted vendors

Responsible to review work with their Project Manager, from project start up through project close out, to assure accuracy and compliance with CK values and standards. The team member and Project Manager, along with the Project Executives, will meet regularly to review development to ensure progress is being made and goals are being reached.

. Essential functions and responsibilities:

Safety

  • Perform safety audits
  • Participate in MAPSs
  • Participate in OHAs
  • Maintain project safety in accordance with all safety requirements and enforce all policies.
  • Maintain a Safety-First environment and Zero At Risk Behaviors culture
  • Identify and report all safety hazards related to the general public.

Project Management

  • Planning and Scheduling
    • Attend job meetings
    • Produce meeting minutes
    • Process submittals and shop drawings
    • Obtain permits, stamps, or certificates that are required
    • Assist project team with site planning
    • Maintain and keep schedules up-to-date
  • Project Control
    • Enter change orders, purchase orders, and subcontracts into Viewpoint
    • Code and approve invoices
    • Set-up and maintain Request for Information (RFI) log
    • Provides technical support to the project team
    • Create and maintain as-built documents
    • Create and track completion of punch lists
    • Post and update addenda and bulletins into contract documents
    • Assemble project close-out documentation
  • Cost Management
    • Obtain pricing for materials
    • Assist with material purchasing
    • Sets-up and maintain Change Estimate (CE) log
    • Sets-up and maintain Purchase Order (PO) log
    • Assist Project Manager in estimating change orders
    • Enter and track job quantities
    • Set-up, maintain and review cost book
    • Understand Gross Margin Analysis (GMA)
    • Verify quantity estimates/survey for buyout and jobsite purchasing

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to understand and interpret safety laws and company policies/standards.
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and other technical drawing and documents.
  • Knowledge of assigned discipline, project engineering and cost control, plus ability to interpret computerized cost data and systems essential to construction.
  • Must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing with people of all knowledge levels.
  • Must be able to lead and work as part of a team.
  • Must have excellent customer service skills and client-relationship development skills.
  • Must have thorough knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment and methods); craft agreements, negotiations, engineering, estimating, schedules and safety required.
  • Must have excellent communication, organizational and supervisory skills.
  • Ability to work and communicate effectively with others.

The team member in this role must be knowledgeable about and follow the company's safety policies and procedures as described in the company safety manual.

Must have valid driver's license.

education and experience:

Bachelor's degree in an engineering or construction related field, including civil engineering, construction management or equivalent combinations of technical training and experience. The Traveling PE averages between 1 and 3 years of experience with project cost accounting, controls and/or engineering experience related to similar facility construction.
