Description

Position Summary:

The primary responsibility of the Concrete Estimator is to act as a facilitator to assure proper planning, staffing and to facilitate customer satisfaction within the self-performed trade. Focusing on safety, quality and profitability through sound project estimates and project coordination as well as helping maintain a steady flow of work for tradespeople.

Essential functions and responsibilities:

  • Assist in the compliance of the company's safety program and enforce company's safety program and culture
  • Maintain a Safety-First environment and Zero At Risk Behaviors culture
  • Calculate various statistical data - quantity take-offs, material price lists etc.
  • Prepare estimates for concrete specific projects for which you are responsible; at times may have to prepare complete project estimates
  • Prepare project updates and bid package estimate documents
  • Maintain files of working documents and file structure per company standards
  • Participate in pre-bid meetings; bid strategy meetings as requested
  • Work with Preconstruction and Procurement Team Members to assist on development of various deliverables
  • Provide support to coordinate the efforts of jobsite personnel, including subcontractors, suppliers and self-perform work
  • Provide trade technical advice, guidance and support to field manager, superintendents and support staff
  • Work on bid solicitation and subcontractor communications for estimates
  • Attend presentations of estimates
  • Attend project pulse meetings for any projects worked on
  • Perform additional duties per supervisor's discretion
  • Assist in the establishment and ensure compliance of short term and long-term goals for the concrete division with overall corporate goals and objectives
  • Coordinate and confer with design and staff professionals to resolve design issues
  • Attend project site walks as needed

Skills and Abilities:

  • Must be able to understand and interpret safety laws and company policies/standards
  • Must be able to read and interpret blueprints and other technical drawing and documents
  • Must have the ability to communicate verbally and in writing with people of all knowledge levels
  • Must have excellent customer service skills and client-relationship development skills
  • Must have knowledge of all aspects of construction (technology, equipment and methods); craft agreements, negotiations, engineering, estimating, schedules and safety required.
  • Must have excellent communication and organizational skills

education and experience:

Bachelor's degree in an engineering or construction related field or equivalent combinations of technical training and experience. Extensive knowledge of commercial concrete preferred.

certificates licenses and registrations:

Must have valid driver's license.
