Research Associate 2-B/H designs, executes and manages research projects investigating cancer in a foundational (basic) biological/health science research laboratory in the Pharmacoanalytical Shared Resource (PhASR) within the OSUMC Comprehensive Cancer Center. Duties include:
Collaborates with principal investigator (PI) to develop and implement goals and objectives of studies
Conceptualizes, designs and executes complex laboratory experiments
Develops and validates quantitative liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) methods for pre-clinical and clinical studies per FDA guidelines
Prepares biological specimens by protein precipitation, phospholipid removal, liquidliquid and solid phase extraction for ELISA and LC-MS/MS analyses, and for analysis by other methods as appropriate
Critically analyze and interpret original data and peer-reviewed literature in cooperation with other PhASR resources to plan future experiments
Collects, analyzes and interprets research data
Assists with development and implementation of new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques
Performs critical analysis of literature relevant to research being undertaken
Assists in the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentation at national and conferences and workshops, and in the writing of project reports, articles and other documents
Assists principal investigator in the preparation of proposals to obtain new or renewal of extramural funding in support of research
Oversees and coordinates periodic maintenance and testing of laboratory equipment
Performs additional duties as assigned.
Minimum Education Required:
Masters degree in a biological sciences, health or other related science field is required, PhD preferred.
4 years relevant experience in laboratory research experience is required, 5-7 preferred.
Working knowledge of Thermo XCalibur and/or Tracefinder software is a desired.
Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical, including a drug screen.
