Job Description Scope of Position The outpatient service centers, which includes the Outpatient phlebotomy sites located at Ross, Doan, McCampbell, Martha Morehouse, Stoneridge Internal Medicine, Carepoint Lewis Center, Carepoint Gahanna and Central Processing Area encompass specimen collection and specimen processing within the Department of Clinical Laboratories. The Central Processing Area is staffed 24 hours per day, Sunday through Saturday. The patient service center locations are staffed between the hours of 7:00 am to 5:30pm, Monday through Friday, in order to accommodate each patient service center?s specific hours of operation. Position Summary This medical laboratory technician-Processor (MLT-Processor) is responsible for covering the duties and responsibilities of the Central Processing area and/or Outpatient Clinic Labs as applicable within the Laboratory Customer Services department of the Clinical Laboratories. Performs specimen processing, manual computer test order entry; verification of laboratory test requisition entry, and customer service related duties such as answering telephone inquiries and problem resolution of testing samples with physician order and/or specimen collection errors. The MLT-Processor also participates in quality control, continuous quality improvement activities, inventory control, professional development and continuing education within the area. The MLT-Processor positions assigned to cover the Central Processing Area are required to rotate weekends and holidays per manager-approved weekend/holiday schedule and/or as operational necessity dictates due to staffing issues where applicable. Minimum Education Required HS Graduate or Equivalent Required Qualifications High school education required; Associates degree or higher preferred in medical laboratory technology or biological science or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
