Job Description

Seeking a Post-Doctoral Researcher to pursue specialized basic and translational science research training, education and experience in neuroscience, inflammation, and gut microbiome in the context of cancer/cancer treatment under the guidance of Dr. Leah Pyter in the Institute for Behavioral Medicine Research.

The project is on the potential for fecal microbial transplantations to ameliorate the behavioral side effects of cancer chemotherapy that are associated with inflammation. We will use mouse modeling to study mechanisms and run a pilot clinical trial in women with breast cancer. We are collaborating with medical oncologists and gastroenterologists. The Pyter lab team generally studies the biological mechanisms by which tumors (outside the brain) and cancer treatments alter neurobiology and behavior. These mechanisms include immune, endocrine, and microbial. The successful candidate will receive mentorship and training in these approaches, as well as in experimental design, execution, data analyses, scientific communication, and other areas of professional development to advance their career interests and goals.

Minimum Education and Experience Requirements:

Doctoral degree in Life Sciences required; Doctoral degree in Gut Microbiology or Neuroimmunology preferred. Requires successful completion of a background check. Selected candidate may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
