Job Description

The Post Doctoral Scholar will pursue specialized research training and experience under the guidance of a scientific mentor within the Comprehensive Cancer Center at the Ohio State University.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Participate in planning, designing, and managing research projects in translational cancer research with a focus on the antibody, CAR-NK and CAR-T cell immunotherapy

  • Participate in the development and implementation of new and/or revised research methodologies and techniques

  • Design and executes complex laboratory experiments

  • Perform advanced in vitro and in vivo techniques including molecular biology skills such as: DNA, RNA extraction, RT-PCR, etc., CAR-T, CAR-NK and general cell culture skills such as mammalian and bacterial cell growth, etc., Protein biochemistry such as protein purification, SDS-PAGE, Western blotting, ELISA, flow cytometry, immunostaining, ADCC, IncuCyte or RTCA cytotoxicity assays, etc., and small animal skills such as tail vein, intraperitoneal and subcutaneous injections of cancer cells into mice to generate animal models of cancer and of therapeutic agents for experimental therapy, small animal in vivo imaging, etc. collects, analyzes and interprets research data

  • Collaborate with principal investigator to write manuscripts, articles, abstracts, and research reports for publication in peer-reviewed journals

  • Assist with the development and preparation of grant proposals to obtain outside funding in support of research

  • Conduct a critical analysis of research literature related to research being investigated

  • Train and/or supervise other lab staff and monitor lab expenses

  • Participate in overseeing daily laboratory operations

  • Ensure compliance with protocol requirements, as well as local, state, and federal regulations

  • Monitor and enforce laboratory safety procedures to ensure compliance with OSHA regulations

  • Post Doctoral Scholar to pursue specialized research training and experience under the guidance of a scientific mentor;

  • Conduct research to characterize the genetic basis of human cancers

  • Develop, adopt, and implements new laboratory methods to achieve characterization of the genetic basis of human cancers

  • Identify novel genes and examines their role in cancer development

  • Analyze changes in gene copy number and mRNA or protein expression, gene cloning, and mutation detection

  • Participate in analyzing data for reports for the purpose of grants submissions

  • Train staff in molecular biology techniques

Education/Experience:

A Doctoral degree in an appropriate discipline is required. Requires successful completion of a background check; qualified candidates may be asked to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.

The Target Hiring Range (NIH Post Doc Scale): $56,484 - $68,604 annually
