Overview

Sourcing & Commodity Administrator - Purchasing

This advanced buyer position is responsible for overseeing competitive, cooperative and sole sourced procurement processes in accordance with Nationwide Children?s policy, requirements and timelines. Through these processes, the Commodity Administrator provides a primary focus on value analysis through contract assessment, development, drafting, negotiation and execution. He or she performs a broad range of technical duties in contracting for the sourcing of supplies, materials, equipment and services as required by NCH business needs. Additionally, this position will develop RFP?s, research GPO contracts, standardization opportunities and other procurement related savings opportunities.

Responsibilities

1. Collaborates with administration, physicians and department heads to develop products and services requirements list.

2. Reviews costs of various categories of materials and services. Works closely with GPO to establish and maintain network contract tiers and monitor agreement prices. Communicates and maintains liaison between other areas of the network and Supply Chain regarding new products and services.

3. Functions as an objective advisor during product discussions with physicians, clinical staff and evaluation teams with respect to cost versus patient care.

4. Apprises management and affected departments on status of value analysis projects.

5. Coordinates product evaluations and maintains evaluation statistics/results.

6. Analyzes price and non-price factors across vendor offerings in determining the cost savings, cost avoidance, service gains and other non-price factors that are in the Nationwide Children?s best business interest.

7. Recommends changes in methods and procedures to improve systems of procurement, and takes an active role in departmental program improvement initiatives.

8. Buys a large volume of varied and complex commodities in a centralized purchasing program. Works with vendors to ensure the procurement of high quality merchandise, expedient delivery and dependable service at optimum price.

9. Develops, executes and implements RFPs, RFIs and RFQs for various commodity and services.

10. Manages and coordinates capital orders over $25,001.11. Performs miscellaneous duties as required.
