Job Description

JOB SCOPE/ SUMMARY:

  • Troubleshoot and lend technical support for automated manufacturing processes and equipment, supporting all facilities

  • Deploy, monitor and maintain automation hardware, operating systems and application software

  • Ensure operational stability, efficiency, and security of automation systems and infrastructure

  • Conduct necessary technology research and provide recommendations

  • Installs and configures new hardware and software

  • Provides user training and support as necessary

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Resolve related problems, exercising good technical judgment in planning and organizing hands-on efforts. Troubleshoot and lend technical support for automated manufacturing processes and equipment, supporting manufacturing plants Specify and procure replacement parts and maintenance contracts. Assess available options for technology and equipment throughout various areas of manufacturing operations. Plan facility improvements for effective equipment utilization and product processing. Support lean manufacturing, Six Sigma, and participate in continuous improvement projects. Assist in the procurement; integrate new equipment and modification of automation software and equipment for material handling, production processing and packaging equipment. Promote cohesion between groups within the department and across sites. Supporting System Administrators and customers; Participate on project teams as required Create and maintain hardware documentation for all automation equipment. Monitors and maintains current back-up of all critical data. Evaluate and test new or modified software programs and software development procedures used to verify that programs function according to user requirements and established guidelines. Develop new programs, modify or edit existing programs for control processors and HMI's. Other duties as assigned. Maintain and control current back up programs for all control processors and HMI's for your facilities.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor's degree or equivalent knowledge and experience required

Minimum 5-8 years programming and troubleshooting experience with PLC automation and related controls

KNOWLEDGE/SKILLS/ABILITIES RECOMMENDED FOR POSITION:

Supervisory skills to lead technical/maintenance people

Must have process/production experience in a batch chemical production environment

Excellent communication, interpersonal, project management and technical skills

Extensive knowledge of PLC systems and Systems Control Technologies, including in depth knowledge of RSLinx, RSView, DeviceNet, Ethernet and other network based I/O systems

Proficient in programming and modification of new and existing PLC's and HMI's

Ability to communicate with all levels of personnel, including staff, vendors and management

Ability to direct supervisors and staff to employ corrective procedures

Ability to prioritize and interpret work requests and work orders

Ability to organize, plan and schedule preventative and ongoing maintenance work to avoid disruption of production operations

Ability to develop training material and provide training to management, maintenance technicians and users

Minimum intermediate computer skills required (Microsoft Office Suite)

SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS:

Ability to travel out of state (10%)

Ability to work flexible schedules when required, which may include weekends and holidays.

Hiring Range: $79,500.00 - $124,960.00

Actual compensation may vary based on various factors including experience, education, geographic location, and/or skills.
