WAVE is currently looking for an Advanced Operator to join our team!

This position is responsible for activities associated with rollform operations. An Operator Advanced must demonstrate the ability to coordinate all manufacturing functions such as obtaining operating supplies, loading clip reels, making timely and correct machine adjustments, troubleshooting downtime occurrences and following proper quality practices.

General Responsibilities:

  • Work safely by demonstrating a commitment to safety, understanding, and following safety instructions, training and procedures and reporting safety concerns right away. Always maintain all work areas and equipment in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Understand and follow written and verbal work instructions.
  • Set up equipment and operate according to blueprints/technical drawings and the schedule.
  • Start and observe machine operation to detect malfunctions or out-of-tolerance production.
  • Perform visual and gauge-specific quality inspections of parts, and make corrective actions as required. Verify conformance of finished work-piece to specifications and required tolerances using measuring and inspection tools.
  • Maintain continuous operations of equipment; Troubleshoot machinery, material, measuring equipment and tooling; make adjustments or replacing as needed.
  • Complete daily carton count, scrap and end-of-shift reporting as directed.
  • Participate in continuous improvement and LEAN manufacturing activities.
  • Flexible/adaptable to assignment changes.
  • Stand for an extended period every day and safely lift up to 40 pounds.
  • Perform these and other related duties as assigned or directed.
  • Actively participate in communication and WAVE culture.

Measures of Effectiveness; including, but not limited to:

  • Safety - OSHA rate, compliance to regulations/policies, evidence of risk reduction, engagement in 8-Step Safety Process, near-miss reporting
  • Quality - Timely and accurate quality reporting, customer claims, quarantined product, ability to recognize defects and implement corrective actions through visual inspection while machine is in operation
  • Productivity - Cartons per hour, PE%, downtime %, long bar scrap %, coil changeover time, troubleshooting
  • Communication - Shift handoff and line preparation, Gemba, kaizen event participation

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Required; Knowledge and experience of machinery in manufacturing environment or similar.
  • Preferred; Experience with CNC equipment operation
  • Preferred; Experience with LEAN manufacturing, 6S, Six Sigma.
  • Preferred; Experience in a fast-paced, high performance manufacturing environment.
  • Able to lift 40 pounds consistently
  • Able to stand 8-10 hours per day at assigned work area
  • Background check required
