Position Overview

The Senior Technical Sourcing Specialist is a liaison between the Operations team and Exact Sciences' approved and potential suppliers. A solid science, production, engineering, or procurement background and passion for supply chain is required for this role. The scope of work will vary but will require working with a diverse team of cross-functional stakeholders. The Senior Technical Sourcing Specialist is expected to provide leadership in the procurement elements of a project with an understanding of the technical requirements. Areas of focus include supplier evaluation, negotiation, monitoring, supply risk management, request for proposals (RFPs), support for new product initiatives, and technical troubleshooting with suppliers. This role requires a persistent and eager individual to find solutions that meet Exact Sciences' operational needs, building a robust supply chain in a rapidly growing company.

Essential Duties

include but are not limited to the following:

  • Collaborate with strategic suppliers when opportunities arise, and technical support follow-up is required.
  • Attend cross-functional meetings to support new product initiatives and product support.
  • Provide updates to stakeholders to ensure all are aware of ongoing initiatives and projects with suppliers.
  • Develop request for proposals (RFP's) with input from cross-functional areas.
  • Analyze proposal responses with cross-functional teams.
  • Identify and evaluate backup and alternate suppliers based on business needs.
  • Provide technical information to suppliers to support investigations.
  • Drive follow-up with suppliers to meet aggressive timelines.
  • Assist with development and implementation of strategic supply chain initiatives, including cost savings initiatives and secondary sourcing.
  • Engage in contract negotiations to drive year-over-year costs savings.
  • Assist and manage with supply agreement negotiations.
  • Assist with supplier management related to the quality system and annual reviews.
  • Host supplier visits both onsite and via teleconference.
  • Visit and participate in audits of suppliers, as needed.
  • Complete periodic benchmarking to maintain price competitiveness.
  • Manage project purchase orders as needed and provide finance and other cross-functional teams with timely updates
  • Focus on the management of our molding, external assembly suppliers and the expansion of those production capabilities.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with multi-level personnel, as well as vendors and their representatives.

  • Ability to lift up to 20 pounds for approximately 5% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to work on a mobile device, tablet, or in front of a computer screen and/or perform typing for approximately 90% of a typical working day.
  • Ability to grasp with both hands; pinch with thumb and forefinger; turn with hand/arm; reach above shoulder height.
  • Ability to work on a computer and phone simultaneously.
  • Ability to use a telephone through a headset.
  • Ability to comply with any applicable personal protective equipment requirements.
  • Ability and means to travel between Madison locations.
  • Ability to travel 20% of working time away from work location, may include overnight/weekend travel.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, or related field as outlined in the essential duties; or Associates Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain, or related field as outlined in the essential duties and 2 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor's Degree; or High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED) and 4 years of relevant experience as outlined in the essential duties in lieu of Bachelor's degree.
  • 5+ years of professional industry related work experience.
  • 2+ years of experience in supply chain, buying and/or planning.
  • 2+ years of experience using GMP to manage facilities, equipment and processes.
  • Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship.
  • Demonstrated ability to perform the Essential Duties of the position with or without accommodation.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience with SAP or other ERP systems.
  • 3+ years of experience with contract management and negotiations.
  • 1+ years of experience with injection molding.
  • 1+ years of experience with international supply channels and customers.

Salary Range:

$85,000.00 - $135,000.00

The annual base salary shown is for this position located in US - WI - Madison on a full-time basis and may differ by hiring location. In addition, this position is bonus eligible, and is eligible to receive company stock upon hire as well as annually.
