Position Summary:

Senior Technicians are responsible for planning, organizing, and performing the necessary maintenance and shop functions to maintain the facility and/or equipment under minimal supervision.

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Comply with all Safety rules, Nestle Integrated Management System and all other company policies and procedures.
  • Completion of AMM (Asset and Maintenance Management) work orders using shop equipment or portable equipment for work in the Fabrication area and other departments such as pilot plants
  • Plans and lays out jobs from blueprints, drawings, sketches, or verbal instructions.
  • Coach & train junior technician as needed.
  • Plan, organize and perform required maintenance of the facility, machinery, and equipment. Can solve issues alone.
  • Provides emergency support - Machining parts for production fixtures and equipment related issues
  • Determine as needed fits, finishes and equipment functionality.
  • Welding of base metals 304L & 316L. Hand GTAW welding of sanitary tubing used to transfer liquid product is required & heavy flat bar stock and sheet metal 10 -20 gauge. Shielding gas will be used for piping and sanitary tube welding.
  • Power pipe welding such as steam and condensate lines and fittings
  • Fabrication experience required. Press brake, flow jet, shear, role, drill press, various hand tools and grinders.
  • Emergency repair - maintenance machining in support of equipment breakdowns, safety, and quality issues
  • Perform maintenance and fabrication type welding TIG, MIG, and Stick welding. Figure routes, materials and connection types for flanged, threaded NPT, Socket weld, sweat copper or butt weld connections.
  • complex piping runs; position pipe and fittings for power piping
  • Operate machines to size, shape or form metal.
  • Assists others in setups and problem solving when asked.
  • Accurately read and interpret drawing, blueprints, and sketches
  • Be able to work from verbal instructions and rough sketches.
  • Conceive ideas and produce parts to solve production problems.
  • Work in a TEAM environment.
  • Make machine and material selection.
  • Clean up equipment and work area at end of your shift to maintain a safe, clean work area.
  • Accurate reading of mechanical prints, high quality, and high quantity of work completed.
  • Interact and participate with project teams as required.
  • Attend Technical Training Classes and cascade learnings to others.

Job Qualifications (Minimum Education, Experience, and Knowledge)

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Minimum 7-10 years of related experience required.
  • Excellent knowledge of Maintenance, Machining, Weld and/or Fabrication Shop operations with demonstrated expertise in two of these skilled trade areas. Has adequate knowledge in all these trades to work seamlessly in team dynamic.
  • Excellent written & verbal communication skills. Communicate daily activities for presentation at shift meeting.
  • Good Computer skills ((Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, Excel)
  • Good interpersonal skills for working with all levels of the facility.
  • Good basic math skills. Can convert fractions to decimals. Can accurately read a tape measure and precision measuring tools such as calipers or micrometers.
