Neurocrine Biosciences is currently seeking a Summer 2024 intern for Drug Product Development - Late Stage, to be based in San Diego, CA. This Summer Intern will play a vital role in supporting activities related to formulation product development.

Your Contributions (include, but are not limited to):
  • Support the experimental plans, execution, analyzes data and contributes to technical reports of various formulation lab activities with mentorship

  • Identify and present relevant literature to the project team

  • Works on problems of moderate scope where analysis of data requires an evaluation of various factors

  • Exhibits creativity in selecting approaches and techniques for acquiring solutions

  • Investigates new methods and technologies and maintains accurate lab notebook to support protection of intellectual property in accordance with relevant Neurocrine Biosciences standards

  • Interacts with other internal departments and/ or perform some work rotation as needed (i.e., Product Development- Early Stage, Product development, and pharmaceutical Operations, Analytical Development, and/or other departments)

  • Coordinate testing schedules, present results, and compile reports

  • Collaborating with a mentor team of cross-functional team members as well as the other interns in the class

  • Complete a special project and presenting a comprehensive poster-format presentation summarizing the body of work and research findings as a final capstone experience at the end of the internship

  • Keep supervisors updated on progress.

Requirements:
  • Pursuing an undergraduate or graduate degree, with preferred majors including Pharmaceutical Sciences, Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Biology, Biotechnology, Chemical Engineering, Biomedical Engineering, or related fields

  • Strong motivation to build a career in Research & Development, with an interest in the biotech/biopharmaceutical industry

  • Strong leadership and team-building skills

  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a multifunctional team

  • Willingness to learn, be mentored, and improve

  • Experience with hands-on work and familiarity with the use of hand-tools is advantageous

  • Functional knowledge of laboratory equipment and techniques is necessary

  • Attention to detail and accuracy are crucial in performing all tasks for this position

  • Initiative, organizational skills, and digital literacy are vital for effective laboratory operations

  • Excellent written and oral communication skills are required

  • Applicants must be legally authorized to work in the United States

  • Creative thinking and the ability to work effectively within a team

  • Flexibility and the willingness to work on multiple projects simultaneously as needed

  • A skill set that complements the company's technology and product development

  • Interest in participating in various program events, including social gatherings and career development workshops

  • Availability for a 10-12 week, full-time summer program

  • Some lab work may be necessary

  • Prior experience in the pharmaceutical or biotechnology industry is advantageous but not mandatory

  • Familiarity with biopharmaceutical technologies, physical and life sciences, product development, and regulatory approval processes is desirable

  • A minimum GPA of 3.0 is strongly preferred
