Job Description

Research Technician to assist and support scientific investigation to study Inflammation-associated molecular regulation of muscle regeneration with Dr. Kira Nakka in the Department of Physiology and Cell Biology; independently conducts assigned experiments; performs a variety of molecular, cellular, and biological research techniques and procedures including PCR reactions, gel electrophoresis, assays, cell cultures and Western analysis; tests and evaluates current procedures; performs routine procedures on lab animals; records, consolidates and assists with analysis of research results; summarizes data for inclusion in grant proposals and manuscripts; assists principal investigator with the preparation of publications, manuscripts, articles, posters, and abstracts; oversees and maintains accurate records of laboratory activities; assists with training of junior research staff, and undergraduate and graduate students in research methods and equipment operation; sets up and operates laboratory equipment; monitors research supply, inventory and initiates procurement requests as needed.

Minimum Education and Skills/Experience Required/Desired

A Bachelors degree in a biological science or an equivalent combination of education and experience is required. Ability to translate, adapt and apply academic or practical knowledge in the conduct of scientific research is required. Experience in a biological research capacity is required. Requires successful completion of a background check. Qualified candidates may be requested to complete a pre-employment physical including a drug screen.
