Description

The Department of Health, Exercise, and Sports Studies at Denison University invites applications for a two year full-time visiting assistant professor with an emphasis in health and exercise science beginning August 2024. We seek an energetic and dynamic teacher who can teach undergraduate courses in Fundamentals of Health and Exercise (HESS 201), Applied Anatomy with lab (HESS 202) and Research Methods (HESS 203). This position will also teach one or more upper level undergraduate courses in nutrition, health, kinesiology, or physiology as fits the department's need and the candidate's areas of expertise. Teaching load for this position is three courses each semester; all courses have enrollments of 24 or less.

The department of Health Exercise and Sports Studies (HESS) takes a liberal arts approach to the study of the human body and its capabilities, as well as the interactions between bodies and societies that impact health and define sport. This position will be welcomed and encouraged to participate in departmental events and in the mentorship of students.

Qualifications

Demonstrated ability and motivation for excellence in undergraduate teaching is expected.

Candidates are required to have by start date a PhD in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Public Health, or similar discipline (ABD will be considered as Instructor until PhD is attained)."
